Easy steps to avoid downtime transferring
your site.
Please
inform us that you are moving a live website
when ordering.
1.
INET-HOST will set up your account on
our server usually with 1 business day
upon receipt of your order. Once completed
a technical representative will send you
an email with a temporary IP address or
URL and the FTP procedures on uploading
your files to our server. At this stage
you can only access your new site by using
the temporary IP address only.
2.
Once your website is uploaded to our server,
visit your registrar's Domain Name modifications
area (or account modification) on their
web site and follow their procedure for
transferring your Name Server (DNS) information.
Once you have modified the DNS information
it takes 24 to 48 hours for this information
to propagate over the Internet. During
this time, when someone types your URL
in any browser, he/she will see your site
either on the previous server or on your
new INET-HOST server.
3.
At the end of the propagation period the
transfer is complete and your website
will only be published by our server.
At this time you may have your website
removed from your previous hosting provider's
servers and be able to manage your new
website using your URL.
This
process will guarantee that your site is
always available while the DNS changes are
propagating through the system. |
